Light clay straw workshop with Rotem Koren

23-26/5/21

light clay straw is a modular technique based on a mixture of straw dipped in a clay paste, cast into a short term or long term mold in order to create an insulating, breathing, natural wall system.

Light clay straw is suitable for outer and inner walls as well as insulation for existing walls. It can be combined as an additional material in wall systems built with other techniques.

In this workshop, we will be introduced to the world of natural building and get hands on experience in building light clay straw walls from scratch.

We will begin with building a wooden construction for the light clay straw walls and proceed with preparing the mixture and filling in the walls.

In addition, we will learn how to prepare the foundations for electricity, water, window details and plastering preparation.
